Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Kohistani was one of the prominent scholars of Behshahr during the Pahlavi era who played a prominent role in nurturing revolutionary students and developing Islamic education in northern Iran. Among his activities during the Pahlavi era to improve cultural and political conditions was supporting the activities of religious meetings and active political associations in mosques. The leader of Kohistan Seminary promoted home Quran meetings and religious associations in mosques, and this approach of his was an attempt to culturally and politically combat Pahlavi corruption and institutionalize Islamic values during the Pahlavi era. One of Ayatollah Kohistani's political and religious activities was supporting the Behshahr Muslim Youth Association in the Nasir Khan Mosque (current Imam Hussein Mosque). This religious and political association was able to hold various programs and meetings with the presence of religious elders from the seminaries of Qom, Khorasan, and Tehran, and to increase the awareness of the younger generation about Islam through regular weekly meetings. The meetings of the association presented political, cultural, social, economic, medical, jurisprudential content and answered doubts, and many young people attended. This group came to the service of Ayatollah Kohistani in various circumstances, and he gave enlightening lectures to the young generation. Given the importance of this connection, the present article, using the method of oral history and documents, attempts to answer the question: "What supportive activities did Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Kohistani carry out for the formation and development of the activities of the Muslim Youth Association of Behshahr?"
