This research employs an interpretive-critical method to analyze and examine the strategies of the Quranic School in redefining Kurdish identity and its relationship with national sovereignty. It seeks to answer the question of what meanings attributes such as territory, state, language, history, and culture hold within the school, and how these attributes contribute to the construction of a national subject.
The findings indicate that the Quranic School utilized three strategies for reinterpreting the concepts and attributes of nationalism: redefining national concepts by viewing political geography as a construct of colonialism and considering the Kurdish language merely as a tool for religious promotion; erasing national memory by replacing national symbols with religious elements during the cultural revolution; and offering a religious alternative by proposing the model of "Islamic Council Governance" in alignment with Iran's territorial integrity, in contrast to the nation-state. Therefore, despite the instrumental use of Kurdish identity components, the Quranic School ultimately prioritized its religious project over nationalism, positioning this duality in opposition to dominant nationalist discourses.
